10 surprising foods that you might have thought will help you lose weight, but they do NOT!

I will give you exactly 10 foods most of you consume thinking that they’re fine, but it actually STOPS your weight loss.
  1. Quinoa: Often described as a “super-food”. This is a seed packed with protein, fiber and various vitamins and minerals. Quinoa is pretty low on the GI, however, it still spikes your blood sugar, and therefore it can kick you out of ketosis (fat burning).
  2. Oatmeal: Instant Oatmeal is 83 on the GI and this is not that terrible, but it’s not that low either. If you are trying to lose weight, then oatmeal will not help with that purpose.
  3. Beets: Beets are a little bit high in sugar, with one cup containing about 9 grams of sugar. However, it has a high amount of fiber as well, as much as 3.9 grams. Fiber works as a buffer in this case, meaning beets will create less of a negative effect on your blood sugar level. If you are happy with your weight, or going good on your weight loss journey, then you can have some beets, as they have great benefits for the liver and help your gallbladder. But if you want to maximize fat burning, then it’s better to skip it.
  4. Pea: Pea is pretty high in carbs and sugar both. One cup of pea has 21 grams of carbs and 8 grams of sugar. This is pretty high, so you should not eat peas for weight loss.
  5. Potato: One cup contains about 37 grams of carbs, quite little sugar, just about 1.7 grams, but potato does break down to sugar quite fast. It’s just too high in carbs to support weight loss.
  6. Corn: Corn is usually GMO and that’s really not good for health or weight loss. It also has tremendous amounts of carbs: 1 cup has about 123 grams of carbs. This will create big spikes in your insulin level and it’s really not something you want to eat if you are working on weight loss.
  7. Artichoke: Artichokes are extremely high in sugar and carbs. One cup is packed with 14 grams of sugar and about 269 grams of carbs. Absolutely make sure to not eat artichokes if you are trying to lose weight.
  8. Fruits in general: Fructose actually does slow down your weight loss, or even stops it completely. I made a video about fruits, so i recommend you watch that video as this subject is a bit longer and it’s really important that you understand why this happens. So go ahead and watch that video, it will be linked right here.
  9. Meal Replacement Bars / Protein Bars / Healthy Snacks: They tend to be overwhelmingly packed with sugar or sugar replacements. They can spike your insulin level more than actual table sugar! So make sure to skip them.
  10. Anything that bloats you! If something bloats you, even if its leafy greens, sweeteners, broccoli etc., it will surely stop your weight loss and tremendously slow you down. When you face indigestion or bloating you will not lose weight. Unfortunately, the two do not go together. It’s a good idea to make a food journal and note down when you experience bloating, so that you can avoid those foods completely in the future.
